Mercedes-Benz unveiled the fully-electric EQB SUV last year in April in two variants - the EQB 300 4Matic and EQB 350 4Matic. Malaysia got its hand on the EV recently and was first showcased in July as part of the brand’s EQ range of fully electric models lineup for the local market (also the launch of EQS450+ AMG Line). However, unlike in Europe, we only benefit from a single EQB 350 4Matic variant.

It was only last week that Mercedes-Benz Malaysia announced the pricing of the all-new EQB350 and it falls close to the estimated RM 330k figure, RM 328,888 to be precise. The price mentioned is on-the-road without insurance.

Powering the EQB 350 4Matic is a dual-motor setup generating maximum power of 292 hp along with a peak torque of 520 Nm.

The powertrain setup allows the EV to complete the century sprint in just 6.2 seconds and attain a top speed of 160 kmph.

The EVs 66.5, 420-volt lithium-ion battery pack offers a superb range of 423 km, on a single charge.

The EQB 350 4Matic gets an 11 kW charger as standard which using an 11 kW three-phase charging unit charges the battery completely in 5 hrs 45 mins. On the other hand, with a 100 kW DC charging the battery charge will go from 10 to 80 percent in around 32 minutes. Note a 15 min charge will offer an additional range of 140 km.

The automaker is offering a 5-meter charging cable that can be used for both at public charging stations and home wallbox.

The EQB design language showcases an angular and strong character. Several elements on the outside show a clear edge that is hard to miss.

At the front, the EQB showcases a characteristic black panel grille along with a continuous light strip that surely catches attention.

The LED High-Performance headlamps are complemented by surround light units with brand logo projection. These units offer more safety at night as the LED tech illuminates the road better than conventional lamps and uses less energy as well. Part of the setup is an Active Adaptive Highbeam Assist system that when detects no vehicles ahead or oncoming traffic switches on the high beam.

The EVs side profile showcases attractive elements like chrome roof rails and w19-inch alloy wheels.

Like the front, the rear profile pops out thanks to the width-emphasizing design with LED light strip.

The EQB is the fully-electric counterpart of the GLB and so is comparable in size. The EV measures 4,684 mm in length, 1,834 mm in width, and 1,667 mm in height. Its wheelbase stretches to 2,829 mm, assuring a roomy cabin.

The EQB’s cabin is generously spacious and is staged in a modern way. The rose gold elements and backlit trim give the EV a modern high-tech ambience. Also, targeted design accents like tubular elements in aluminium look reinforce a robust and high-quality impression.

The driver and passenger can experience electric mobility in every fiber of the EVs interior thanks to the Electric Art design and equipment line. Part of the design kit is the contemporary rise gold hue on the ARTICO man-made leather upholstery and air vents.

The EV’s Load Compartment Package makes transportation of everyday and leisure items practical and safe. It offers additional storage and a 12V connection.

Making the loading and unloading process more convenient is the EASY-PACK tailgate that opens and closes the boot gate electrically, at a press of a button. The system can be interrupted at any time by pressing the button.

The EQB's reversing camera gives the driver a full view of the car’s rear on the media display. Thanks to the different view options, even the most concealed obstacles and kerbs are clearly visible. This system allows the driver to manoeuvre into tricky parking spots without any concern.

The EQB comes with a 4-way lumbar support which is essential for an ergonomic seating position that relaxes back muscles. It sure is a small inclusion but has a big impact. The four possible settings include - higher, lower, softer and harder.

Stowage compartment in the centre console with retractable cover. The EQB’s interior comes with a practical stowage compartment that can house everyday items such as smartphones, wallets or keys. This elegant compartment offers protection for your things from prying eyes in high-quality material.

In the event of a frontal crash, the Knee airbag will inflate in milliseconds. Thus protecting the driver’s leg from coming in contact with the steering column or the instrument panel. This will prevent or lessen the severity of the injuries.

Just say the word ‘Hey Mercedes’ to activate the MBUX multimedia system to which the driver/ passenger can express all their wishes. As the system can control various features of the car intuitively via massive, high-resolution screens.

There is no dearth of lighting units that offer better orientation. Part of the car’s light & sight package is a transparent light disc in the overhead control panel that generates a 3D crystal effect. The sun visor comes with an illuminated vanity mirror.

The diver can personalize the car as per the mood and preference with the EQB’s 64 color ambient lighting setup that can alternate dynamically and can even illuminate several areas in different colours.

The EQB is a versatile car with up to seven seats, it offers an ideal combination of space and functionality.

Its large boot can be further expanded by folding the rear seats - folding the third row, and longitudinally adjusting the rear seats via the EASY-ENTRY aid.

The EQB comes with the HANDS-FREE ACCESS function that opens the tailgate conveniently with just a kicking motion.

The EQB is loaded with innovative functions, one of which is the MBUX interior assistant. Via this, the driver can activate selected functions with just hand and arm movements. Even a few controls on the touchscreen can be highlighted by bringing the hands closer to the display.

The MBUX multimedia system can be operated in one too many ways. For instance through the touchpad on the center console, controls on the steering, or via the 10.25-inch touch display.

Part of the EVs MBUX Innovation Package is a Head-up Display that when activated transforms the windscreen into a digital cockpit.
